The Settings Tabbed Window Will Appear.
Image Compression can speed up the time taken to send image files over the internet and help reduce the storage space required on hard drives or flash memory devices. These Compression Settings are application level settings. This means that when these settings are changed they will apply from that point forward in the application. Any changes made to Compression Level will apply to all images automatically as they are Added to an Archive after that point.
NOTE: Please bear in mind that the process of applying Image Compression to a file cannot be reversed. Please try different combinations of settings to find the right solution for your needs.
Binary Compression: this is the type of compression used by the popular Zip products. It produces good results with text based documents but has little or no effect on image files.
Image Compression: Blubox uses the latest Image Compression techniques to reduce image files significantly whilst maintaining excellent visual picture quality.
Tip:
We recommend the Low or Medium setting if you need to maintain maximum image quality and the High or Maximum settings for general sharing of photos by email or via a Photo Sharing Website.
You can achieve even greater reductions in file size by choosing to resize you image when importing into an Archive. You can choose to keep the original size or resize to three preset settings (longest side):
1024 pixels (suitable for slideshow viewing on most computer monitors)
800 pixels
640 pixels
You can also choose a custom setting, for example, if you have a larger monitor you may wish to select the resolution of your monitor using the Custom setting (in pixels)
Tips:
Try different settings until you find the right solution, Blubox never alters your original files.
Try combining the lower compression settings with a Batch Resize option to produce high quality images but with tiny file sizes.
