Most applications have more than one way to do the same thing. One user may be more comfortable with accessing commands from the keyboard, while another may like to do as much as possible with the mouse; most people use a combination of both.
Here is an example of 3 different ways to invoke the function to Open an Archive:
Ctrl + O
Click on File Menu , then Click on Open Archive
Click the Open button on the Archives Toolbar
Most windows applications support context menus initiated by a right-mouse click. These context menus list the functionality used most for the area right-clicked on.
Selecting a Range of Items: Press and hold down the SHIFT key, and click the first and last item in group.
Selecting Multiple Items: Press and hold down the CTRL key, and click individual items in group.
Ctrl + A - Select all
Ctrl + D - Deselect all
You can quickly choose the most common application commands by using the mouse to click buttons on toolbars. For example, to Open an Archive file, you click the Open button on the Archives Toolbar
To see more information about a toolbar button, place your mouse cursor over a toolbar button. A ToolTip for the toolbar button appears on the screen; and additional information about the function of the toolbar button appears in the status bar.
Related commands are grouped together on the menus. For example, all of the viewing functions are listed on the View Menu.
